News Release: Meals Available for Children during COVID-19 School Closures
Salt Lake City School District is partnering with the Utah Food Bank to provide a shelf stable Kids Café Dinner at fifteen of our designated school sites. These additional meals will be served as part of our “Drive Thru Meal Service” during the hours of 11:00 am – 12:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The Salt Lake City School District provides a "Drive thru Meal Service" at designated schools sites for children to receive a breakfast and lunch each weekday during the COVID-19 school closures.
To help ensure safety, all meals will be prepared, packaged and delivered by our staff directly to your vehicle. For those without a vehicle, walk-up service is also available. Special meal request will be made available upon request. Contact our registered dietician, Brianna Hardisty, to determine site location and make additional arrangements as needed (Brianna.Hardisty@felixcossolo.com).
This federal seamless food service program is open to the public. Free/reduced meal benefit status and school enrollment is not a requirement. These meals will be provided daily free of charge to all children ages 18 and younger. Meals will be provided, at the sites and times listed in the "Emergency Meal Delivery Sites" PDF below.
We will continue to provide a "Lunch Today, Breakfast Tomorrow" combo meal at each of our designated school sites to reduce the number of trips a families takes to pick up their meals. Each combo meal will include a sack lunch to eat today, and a sack breakfast to refrigerate and eat tomorrow.
Combo meals are served Monday-Friday between the hours of 11:00 to 12:30 p.m.
* Kids Café Dinners are served Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 15 designated school sites between the hours of 11:00 to 12:30 p.m.
